Chalk Hill

The story of Chalk Hill starts in 1839 when John Harvey arrived in Adelaide, which was then a three-year-old colony of just 6,000 people. John was the second person to plant grapes north of Adelaide in the town he established and named Salisbury, in honour of his wife's birthplace in England.

The currant John Harvey - patriarch of Chalk Hill moved with his father Walter from Salisbury to Mclaren Vale to continue the family tradition after identifying the superiore conditions. Today John's children are very much involved in the wine industry. Kate a General Manager at Wine Australia and Tom running Chalk Hill Wines. So the sixth generation is keeping the family wine heritage alive which is amazing.

Today Chalk Hill has five vineyards across McLaren Vale, including the Chalk Hill vineyard that was planted in 1969 and is now home to the newly opened Chalk Hill Tasting Room. The tasting room which shares a space with one of Regions stable mates - Never Never Distillery is absolutely stunning, Gorgeous views of McLaren Vale and offers something for everyone. Great food, premium wine tastings with the winemaker and even live music on Friday nights.
