Brian Conway and Craig Isbel met during vintage at Chateau de Bluizard in 2002 and after many nights drinking pastis they decided to start their own winery in the Barossa Valley.

Craig got to work seeking out half a tonne of Ebenezer Shiraz from a mate, and this fruit was crafted into the first ‘Bruce’ in 2003, with just the one barrique made. Like an old fisherman who can’t let go of a past favourite watering hole, we’ve been comfortable setting up the deck chairs at this new site just upstream from the original vineyard.

An incredibly intense and distinctive nose signals a cool harvest, with tobacco leaf and tamarind combined with celeriac and white pepper to create a beguiling, intriguing, and enticing aroma. The texture is equally titillating, with assertive tannin and spice coiling fluently with dark cherry, orange rind, and Campari-like florals. It evokes recollections of Barolo and Cornas, two of my favourite regions in the world, of course with our own unique, Eden Valley twist. A wine that changed gears overnight and became an incredibly balanced and silky drink on day two. It will age gracefully over a long period.

Cellaring: 5-20 years (from vintage).

1896 bottles produced

Alc/Vol: 14.9%

The wine is a classic & bold expression of Barossa Shiraz. Exceptionally drinkable & terrific value.

This wine is a dedication to all grandparents and is named after two of theirs – Robert and Leslie.

The 2024 Rob & Les is dark and bold, vibrant and fresh, rustic and interesting, has strong personality and as
always is made with passion and energy. Aged in seasoned French oak the fruit driven characters are showcased and accentuated in this classic and bold expression of Barossa Shiraz. The fruit is sourced primarily from two vineyards; the Kalleske Hillside Vineyard and the Hoffmann Mickans Vineyard, both located in the north of the Barossa Valley. These sites are on the famed red clays of the North, giving the wine a structure and elegance that is a hallmark of this special locale. These two vineyards complement each other perfectly and combine to produce a wine that has personality and drinkability. We believe this wine is terrific value and will age beautifully over the next 5 – 10 years.

Alc/Vol: 14.5%

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0550/6662/4209/collections/40b49bd2caecaea6912c161265fbd19e.jpg?v=1668909598
