Barossa Wine Cartel Grenache 2021
The fruit for this Grenache was taken from a single vineyard here in Greenock, planted in the 1940's. 40% whole bunch. Wild fermented under a tree in the front yard. Foot stomped. Basket pressed. Aged in old French barriques down in their 1840's underground cellar for the past 5 months. Hand bottled with love by our cartel.
Dark red/purple in the glass. Aromas of plum, blackberries and a forest floor kind of whiff to it. Brambly dark fruits and light, dusty tannin on the palate. This wine is unfiltered, so a layer of fine lees will settle out in the bottom of the bottle over time. Completely harmless, but if you prefer a clean wine, I would recommend decanting into another vessel to avoid mixing up those lees.
