Rose

Barossa Wine Cartel Mataro/Grenache Rose 2021

Smells like pink grapefruit, red apple, raspberries and strawberries.

Tastes like watermelon and pink grapefruit, and has a nice creaminess at the finish.

Josh Pfeiffer and team hand picked the 90+ year old Grenache bush vines up in the Northern end of the Barossa Valley, in a sub-region known as Ebenezer. The Mataro was also hand picked, and was sourced from a vineyard just down the road from their house in Greenock, on the Western side of the Barossa Valley.

Both varieties were gently pressed separately to minimise the colour in the wine, before the wild yeast took care of the fermentation. The wine was chilled in tank at the end of the ferment and allowed to settle naturally. No fining was carried out, so the wine is vegan, and no filtration was used on the wine. A natural haze will settle to the bottom of the bottle and help keep the wine safe in bottle. Minimal sulphur was added just prior to bottling.

Alc/Vol: 12%
