BK Wines Waning Crescent Syrah 2019
Named each year for the phase of the moon when we harvest this stunning biodynamic vineyard, BK Wines have gone from Waning Crescent to Mother Moon to Autumn Equinox and back again. Syrah from this vineyard often shows on the dark-but-fresh blueberry end of the flavour spectrum, but this year has dipped deeper still into mulberry territory. Baked mulberry pie served with cream and sprinkled with Chinese five spice and white pepper. A hint of bitter just to keep it grown up and a firm but chalky tannic structure. Definitely one for those post-lockdown dinner parties you’ll be planning.
100% whole bunch, three weeks on skins, no new oak, only three barriques made.
