Paralian Grenache/Shiraz 2020
This is Charlie and Skye’s tribute to McLaren Vale ‘Burgundies’ of years gone by. A barrel selection blend of the most juicy and primal barrels of the two single vineyard wines. (62.4%/37.6%)
An increase in Grenache brings more juice, more flesh and more fragrance, whilst the Shiraz tightens the aromas with spice and black fruit and importantly delivers the drive of mild tannin. This is a blend of the two single site wines, a 16yr old puncheon of each and one 6 year old barrique of Grenache as well. 10months oak maturation. Bottled with sulphur only in early February 2021. Vegan friendly.
Charlie and Skye grew up drinking d’Arrys Original and Wirra Wirra Original blends when they first moved to the vale… this is their homage to these wines.
Red and black fruit, grilled meat and herbs, Dutch liquorice. Bold fleshy style, dark chocolate and spice, cocoa tannin, a little saline and beefy, but generous in flavour and oomph. Ripe blackberry, blood plum, juicy acidity, and a finish of solid length. Hearty traditional fare, and good in that way.
130 cases produced.
