On Sunday 5th of June, we are delighted to welcome Seppeltsfield winemaker, Henry Slattery to our tasting room!

Founded in 1850 and steeped in rich Barossan heritage, Seppeltsfield is considered a true national treasure which has helped shape the history of the Australian wine industry.

Its winemaking philosophy is guided by four elements:

* Wines are handcrafted ultimately for enjoyment, but with an eye on ageability.

* Seppeltsfield's 1888 Gravity Cellar plays a significant role in the style of their bottlings, and for their still wines,

* Specialisation in re-imagining of traditional fortified varietals

* These elements are grounded in a belief of place over person.

Henry will guide guests through Seppeltsfield's winemaking philosophy and its aspiration to translate the character of their vineyard sites and each season – in their wines themselves.

A little bit about Henry

Henry completed an Undergraduate degree in Agricultural Science at the University of Melbourne as well as a Level 2 WSET whilst playing 96 senior games for the Essendon Football club (finished in 2012). Following his football career, he completed a Masters in Oenology at the University of Adelaide in 2014. He then worked for five years with Barossa Valley Estate as Assistant Winemaker.

Each tasting session lasts for a period of 45 minutes and caters for a maximum of 5 participants per session, allowing you to ask as many questions as you choose.

For this session, the following five (5) Seppeltsfield wines will be showcased:

2021 Barossa Grenache Rose
2020 ‘No. EC403’ Barossa Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro (GSM)
2019 ‘The Easting’ Barossa Shiraz
2019 ‘The Westing’ Barossa Shiraz
Para 21 Year Old Tawny 2000 Vintage

All wines tasted will be available for sale following the session.

And if that lineup didn’t already entice you…Anyone purchasing a dozen wines (or more!) on the day will go into a lucky draw to win the following:

‘A Tour of the Seppeltsfield Centennial Cellar for 2 people with a tasting of Para 1922 100 Year Old Vintage Tawny, as well as tasting the range of still and fortified wines’ (Total value $400)

Each attendee will receive a personal cheese platter included in the cost of their ticket.
