Producer Spotlight: MMAD Vineyards
With the arrival of the second release of wines coming out from MMAD Vineyards with great acclaim we thought we would shine some light on this great collaboration.
The old vines of Blewitt Springs are a precious resource and an important part of Australia’s viticultural heritage. In early 2021, MMAD Vineyard was purchased by a quartet made up of winemakers Martin Shaw and Adam Wadewitz, and Masters of Wine Michael Hill Smith and David LeMire. MMAD takes its name from their first initials. The MMAD Vineyard wines aim to reflect the unique terroir of Blewitt Springs and the rare old vines that grow there.
In recent years Michael, Martin, Adam, and David have worked together closely on other single vineyard based projects including Tolpuddle Vineyard in Tasmania, and the Shaw + Smith single vineyard wines from Balhannah and Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills. They are thrilled to be collaborating on this exciting single vineyard project in Blewitt Springs.

Bekkers TOME Shiraz Grenache Vol 1 2021
We came across this gem whilst out tasting in McLaren Vale. From fine wine specialists Bekkers comes "TOME".
Bright, fresh and intended for earlier drinking. Carefully matured in a combination of large French oak casks and concrete tanks TOME is crafted with the Bekkers’ hallmark obsessive attention to detail.
"Shiraz (95%) with a dollop of grenache, a blend that is not cemented but reflective of vintage vagaries. Seaview, Clarendon and Blewitt Springs sourcing; 15% whole-bunches with maturation in largeish (500–600L) neutral casks and concrete. Blueberry, marasca cherry, iodine and mezcal. Reductive and clenched at this stage, requiring a brisk decant. Plump and juicier with air, boding well for mid-term cellaring."
