Straight 6 Pack
Ashton Hills Gamay 2024 - 6 Pack
Blackcurrant pastels and blood plum combine with boiled confectionery and a hint of green herb for a complex and enticing nose. Dark fruits and earthy beetroot notes envelope the palate with a hint of Christmas cakespice sitting in the background. Chalky tannins and a crisp fresh acid line bring the wine together and ensure a long expressive finish.
Gamay is regarded as one of the lightest-bodied red grape varieties, famous for its expressive flavours and minimal tannin. When a small parcel from Woodside in the Adelaide Hills was offered to Ashton Hills, we couldn’t resist the opportunity.
BOUQUET
Fresh raspberry and plum, lifted florals and a touch of Indian spice.
PALATE
The palate bursts with flavours of blackcurrant, plum and rhubarb with supple yet chalky tannins and vibrant acidity providing structure and a long elegant finish.
GROWING CONDITIONS
For the second year in a row, the Piccadilly Valley growing season resulted in reduced yields. The long, cool and wet winter pushed into December affecting flowering and a cooler than average start to the year meant the small bunches and berries needed well into March/April to reach maturity.
