The beating heart of Jim Barry Wines lies on the northern outskirts of Clare.
In 1959, on a property known as Atherley, Jim and Nancy made their home; a place to raise their six children and build a wine business of their own. They opened their first cellar door in an old schoolhouse and in 1973, went on to build a state-of-the-art winery. Today, the original cottage sits nestled amongst the growing winery - a symbol of humble beginnings, and a marker of how far we have come.
Wine has been flowing in the Clare Valley since 1851 and is an integral part of the culture. It is one of Australia’s most prestigious premium wine regions, most famous for its Riesling and Shiraz. A small area, accounting for less than 1.5% of Australia’s total wine production.
With its beautiful, rolling hills, ideal winter rainfall and Mediteranean climate, the Clare Valley carries a unique history and winemaking heritage.

The palate is opulent, with rich dark fruits and classic Clare brood. A complete flow of ripe fruit and sweet tannin. A very moreish wine.
