The beating heart of Jim Barry Wines lies on the
northern outskirts of Clare.
In 1959, on a property known as Atherley, Jim and
Nancy made their home; a place to raise their six
children and build a wine business of their own.
They opened their first cellar door in an old schoolhouse and in 1973, went on to build a state-of-the-art
winery.
Today, the original cottage sits nestled amongst the growing winery - a symbol of humble beginnings, and a marker of how far we have come. Wine has been flowing in the Clare Valley since 1851 and is an integral part of the culture. It is one of Australia’s
most prestigious premium wine regions, most famous for its Riesling and Shiraz. A small area, accounting for less than 1.5% of Australia’s total wine production.
With its beautiful, rolling hills, ideal winter rainfall and Mediteranean climate, the Clare Valley carries a unique history and winemaking heritage.

The Single Vineyard The Farm Cabernet Malbec comes from 1997 planted Cabernet Sauvignon and 1998 planted Malbec at our Lodge Hill Property on the Eastern Ranges of the Clare Valley. This is a nod to the wines Jim Barry was making in the 60’s and 70’s where Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec were often blended.

Winemaking Notes
Aromas of dark plum, blueberries, blackberry compote and
hints of spice on the nose.
The palate is medium weighted, with blue fruits laced with
exotic spice and a plump little back end to finish.
