During the long, cool, and wet vintage of 2023, BK Wines faced considerable challenges in ensuring grapes were harvested at their peak ripeness. This resulted in four separate Pinot Gris harvests to create three distinct wines, including the BK Wines Ego is the Enemy Pinot Gris 2023.

The V23 Ego is a skillful blend of wines sourced from two separate concrete fermentation eggs. One batch represents an earlier pick, characterized by a finer palate, while the other batch was harvested later, offering a broader spectrum of flavors. This meticulous blending process results in a wine that is full-bodied and rich, showcasing fruit purity on the nose and a waxy, honeycomb-textured palate.

As you savor this wine, expect notes of pear drops and a hint of cinnamon stick on the finish, creating a multi-layered and indulgent mouthful. Despite its lushness, Ego is not overly sweet, maintaining a perfect balance. It's a testament to the craftsmanship of BK Wines and the Scary Gully vineyard, where 100% Pinot Gris grapes were pressed directly to tank on full solids and underwent 100% fermentation in concrete 'egg' vessels for nine months.
