At Hahndorf Hill, they produce four different styles of Grüner Veltliner, with "Gru" being their classic interpretation. Previous vintages of Gru Grüner Veltliner have received significant accolades, including the 2019 vintage, which was recognized as the best Grüner Veltliner at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2020, and the 2020 vintage, which topped the London Wine Competition 2021. The 2023 vintage features a beautifully perfumed nose of peach, lime peel, and chamomile. On the palate, it showcases vibrant flavors of yellow-fleshed peach, grapefruit, and a hint of guava, all balanced by juicy, limey acidity and a mouth-filling texture. This wine boasts a long, flavorful finish with layers of delicious texture and spice. It pairs excellently with all Asian cuisine, white meats, seafood, and vegetarian dishes. Notably, it also serves as the perfect complement to a favorite rare sirloin steak. Grüner Veltliner is known for its aging potential, and this wine is expected to develop splendidly over the next eight years.
