Vermentino on skins - peach, iced tea and super refreshing

Koerner's 2023 Pigato from the Gullyview Vineyard in Watervale presents a captivating expression of its terroir. Planted in 2007 on Terra Rossa soil rich in red clay over limestone, the grapes were meticulously hand-harvested and sorted on-site. With a picking date spanning March 18 and 21, 2023, the fruit was treated delicately to preserve its integrity, with approximately 50% whole berries retained after destemming.

Fermentation occurred naturally in open-top steel fermenters, with manual plunging twice daily over a 20-day period on the skins. After pressing, the free run and pressings were combined, and the wine settled off gross lees for seven days. Aging gracefully for seven months in steel vessels without filtration or fining, this Pigato reveals a pure expression of the vineyard's essence. Anticipate vibrant aromas, a harmonious palate, and a refreshing finish that showcases the meticulous craftsmanship and terroir-driven approach of Koerner's winemaking.
