Phil settled in Adelaide in the early 1990s, where his ambition led him to establish a manufacturing business that thrived until he sold it to an international company in 2008, just before the global financial crisis hit. Inspired by a long-held dream of owning land and a passion for wine, Phil began working vintages in McLaren Vale to deepen his expertise. After purchasing a property in Blewitt Springs with existing vines, he realized his dream of becoming a small-batch winemaker. Phil is actively involved in all aspects of viticulture and winemaking, continuously refining his craft to produce memorable wines. His dedication culminated in 2019, when he won five gold medals for his 2017 vintage wines.

Phil is committed to sustainable viticulture practices, as evidenced by his membership in the Sustainable Australia Wine-growing (SAW) program. He employs minimal impact sprays and no pesticides on his vineyard, which is situated in the scenic McLaren Vale region, known for its ancient vines and optimal growing conditions. The vineyard, comprising approximately 18 acres of Shiraz planted in three blocks from 1998 to 2008, yields around 40 tonnes of grapes annually. The result is a robust, fruit-driven wine with excellent cellaring potential, reflective of the unique terroir characterized by ancient sand over clay and laminated grey siltstone.
