Thistledown Gorgeous Grenache Rose 2022 - 6 Pack
Grenache stands proudly as Australia's signature grape variety, and our slight obsession with it shines through in our Rosé. Sourced from an old, single vineyard in Berri, this Rosé is a beautifully pale, salmon pink wine with delicate aromatics and a lovely texture that lives up to its name.
Tasting:
The beautifully pale Rosé presents aromatic wild strawberry and cranberry notes on the nose. The palate is tangy, dry, and textural, featuring creamy berry fruit and a deliciously moreish finish. Crafted from old vine Grenache, this racy Rosé is a brilliant example of why we find Grenache so Gorgeous.
Viticulture:
The wine is sourced from two different old vine fruit sources, one trellised and one bush trained, with one hand-picked and the other machine-picked.
Winemaking:
Gentle de-stemming and crushing are followed by 3.5 hours on skins to extract minimal color. A cool fermentation retains aromatic, herbal notes and focuses on the crisp, textural palate. Maturation on lees for 2 months enhances texture before bottling.
Vintage Conditions:
The 2022 vintage followed in much the same vein as the much-lauded 2021, though for the Riverland, yields were down due to a massive hail event in November 2021. Overcoming this challenge, the season featured regular moderate rainfall, friendly temperatures, and an elongated ripening period, ensuring an even spread of fruit during harvesting. The wines are characterized by balanced, aromatic fruit profiles, crisp acids, and a capacity for both youthful exuberance and aging. Vintages like 2022 perfectly showcase why Grenache is adored for its Gorgeous qualities.|
