Straight 6 Pack
Thistledown The Quickening Shiraz 2020 - 6 Pack
As life-forces stir, a connection is born, and a personality is created. The Quickening, in its celebration of the vivifying power of nature, presents the reimagined Barossa—a manifestation of exuberant energy captured within a sculptured framework that mirrors the rugged yet beautiful landscape of its conception.
**Vintage Conditions**
In 2020, vintage conditions were optimal in many aspects. A warm, dry early season transitioned into a mild, sometimes cool February and March, allowing for a leisurely ripening pace. Small yields across all regions intensified fruit flavors, and the dry conditions minimized disease pressures.
**Viticulture**
The majority of the fruit is sourced from Joel Mattschoss' Eden Valley vineyard, a spectacular site planted on challenging, meager soils littered with boulders composed of ironstone and pink quartz. The vineyards are trellised, cordon trained, and spur-pruned.
**Winemaking**
Focused on showcasing exceptional fruit picked at the right time, this wine is a result of frequent vineyard walks to determine the fruit's optimal energy. Wild fermentation, with some whole bunch inclusion, plays a crucial role in imparting bright, fleshy fruit character with excellent texture and spice. The wine undergoes an 8-month aging process in French oak before bottling.
**Tasting**
A vibrantly delicious style of Barossa Shiraz, The Quickening exhibits succulent raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, subtle hints of spice, and an elegant, glossy texture.
Alc/Vol: 14.5%
