Grenache
Jericho McLaren Vale Grenache 2024
The 2024 Jericho Grenache marks the first release from the estate’s own vineyard in Blewitt Springs. This pretty and perfumed wine exemplifies why this subregion of McLaren Vale is so highly regarded for Grenache. Bright red fruits, fresh cranberries and perfectly ripe cherries leap from the glass, layered with violet florals and warming baking spice. The palate is juicy and fresh, supported by the fine-grained tannin structure that has become the hallmark of Blewitt Springs Grenache.
Hand-harvested fruit from the middle and lower sections of the Grenache block was fermented in open vessels and gently plunged once a day to extract soft tannins. After a week on skins, the wine was pressed off and matured in seasoned French oak for just six months, creating an early release style perfectly suited to long, leisurely lunches.
The Jericho vineyard lies on Kaurna country, within the Blewitt Springs subregion of McLaren Vale. Its sandy, nutrient-poor soils date back as far as 56 million years. The growing season delivers long, sunny days moderated by cooling sea breezes from the Gulf of St Vincent. This unique site produces fruit of great concentration and fine tannin, resulting in wines that combine both power and elegance.
This lighter-bodied red is ideally matched with spicy, vibrant dishes. It pairs beautifully with traditional Moroccan chermoula roasted vegetables, chickpeas, and couscous.
Best enjoyed within 3–5 years of release.
