Jim Barry

It would be difficult to find a name more closely aligned to both the Clare Valley and the Australian Wine Industry. Not only does the name Jim Barry connect with quality, it connects with history.

Jim Barry commenced his wine career by studying Oenology (wine science) at Roseworthy Agricultural College in 1944. After graduating as the 17th qualified winemaker from Roseworthy, he accepted a position as Clarevale’s winemaker and chemist, making him the first qualified winemaker to work in the Clare Valley.

Wife, Nancy, proved a driving force in the formation of Jim Barry Wines and sons, Peter, Mark & John were involved in the company’s rise. Peter Barry became managing director in 1985. Today Peter’s children Tom, Sam and Olivia work for Jim Barry Wines as winemaker, commercial manager and brand ambassador respectively.

The palate is electric and precise. A smack of concentrated lime cordial hits the front palate, followed by a sweet-fruited mid-palate. The acidity is...

Bursting with white peach, old-fashioned lemonade and juicy citrus, this wine shows vibrant and refreshing fruit intensity. Layers of peach, just-ripe stone fruits and hints of fresh strawberry make for an explosion of flavour.
