Ricca Terra from the Riverland are one of our favourite producers making many different varieties of wines. Ricca Terra is a collection of ten individual vineyards spanning 70 hectares across Barmera and Berri in South Australia’s Riverland, including treasured original soldier settlement vineyards established by returned servicemen from the First and Second World Wars. Guided by a philosophy of matching Mediterranean grape varieties to the region’s warm, dry climate, Ricca Terra cultivates varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Montepulciano, Tinta Barroca and Vermentino using drought-tolerant rootstocks, water-saving mulches and premium viticultural practices. With careful irrigation from the Murray River and a strong focus on sustainability, Ricca Terra crafts vibrant, character-filled wines while minimising environmental impact — a vision that continues to shape one of Australia’s most progressive and exciting vineyard estates.
