Fruit for Thorny Devil is sourced from a variety of some of the finest vineyards in McLaren Vale. Old bush trained vines and sandy, mineral-strewn vineyards ensure that this Grenache stands out as one of their most delicious offerings.

Tasting
The resulting wine exhibits the characteristic McLaren Vale perfume and spice, accompanied by a beguiling texture that unfolds, layer by layer.

Viticulture
Thorny Devil is derived from a variety of sites, all sharing the common traits of being old, bush trained, and dry grown. With Grenache, the focus is always on maximizing fruit purity, texture, and finesse. This is achieved through early picking, the selection of specific blocks within the vineyard, and a detailed understanding of each site and its reaction to the season.

Winemaking
Handpicked from various sites, all fruit was vinified separately, with up to 30% whole bunches retained in the ferment. Natural fermentation began, and hand plunging twice a day continued until dryness. The wine was gently pressed off skins before spending 10 months in old oak hogsheads.
