Ministry Of Clouds Gamay 2024
Ministry of Clouds has long searched for Gamay in the Adelaide Hills, and discovered it close to home—planted by their friends, the Turnbull family, at the spectacular Charleston site. Known for producing bright, fragrant, light-bodied wines with nervy acidity, they see Gamay as perfectly suited to the Australian summer, seafood, and the evolving pan-Asian cuisine of their home and country.
Intense and tightly wound, the wine unfolds with air to reveal ripe raspberry and a gravelly lift, underpinned by pink peppercorn, cardamom, and mountain herbs. The palate is coiled around a persistent acid line, showing crunchy dark cranberry and raspberry fruit, gentle wood spice, notes of decaying leaves, and a sherbet-like tannin profile. It is a wine of delicacy, purity, and succulence.
Best enjoyed with a pre-dinner platter of saucisson, duck rillettes, cornichons, and crunchy toasted baguette—or alongside pan-fried marinated quail served over fresh spring vegetable risotto.
