In the vintage of 2023, the renowned cool Adelaide Hills region has once again demonstrated its ability to produce fine and elegant wines. This particular wine hails from Charleston, showcasing the vineyard's unique contribution to the region's reputation.

The winemakers took an adventurous approach with this vintage. The grapes, ripening slowly, exhibited a distinctive pink/grey tinge at the sugar level chosen for harvesting, thus inspiring the name Pinot Gris. To enhance the palate weight, the grapes underwent a 24-hour contact with their skins, inadvertently extracting color in the process. The pressings were fined and reintegrated into the free run, contributing to the overall structure of the wine.

The winemaking process included a cool fermentation, with two-thirds of the wine fermented under these conditions. Complementing this, one-third of the wine underwent fermentation in older oak barrels. This dual approach aimed to bring forth a balanced and nuanced expression of the grapes, capturing the essence of the cool Adelaide Hills terroir in every sip.
