In 2014, Barossa grower Joel Mattschoss sourced premium Eden Valley fruit from a historic vineyard once owned by industry icon Bob McLean. Partnering with French winemaker Pierre-Henri Morel, the duo began crafting wines that reflected the site's exceptional terroir, leading to the creation of Love Over Gold. In 2023, Pierre-Henri and Michael Twelftree became the sole custodians of what is now known as Barr-Eden Estate.

A total of 7,800 bottles (650 dozen) were produced from vines planted in 1997 and 2013. Handpicked on April 9, the wine spent 20 days on skins in 4-ton fermenters, with a portion of pressings blended back for added complexity, then matured in 3–4 year old French oak. Crafted for elegance and depth, it shows strong potential for mid- to long-term cellaring
