This Mataro is grown in the sandy, east-facing hills of Blewitt Springs, where McLaren Vale’s coastal, Mediterranean climate favours aromatic lift and fine structure. Dry-grown, low-yielding vines planted in deep wind-blown sands produce small, thick-skinned berries. The fruit was hand harvested, lightly de-stemmed to retain whole berries, cold soaked for aromatic lift, then fermented in open vessels before basket pressing and twelve months’ maturation in old French oak puncheons.

Brooding yet bright, the wine opens with dark plum fruit, garrigue herbs, and layers of clove, nutmeg, cardamom, and fennel. The palate is compact and deep, showing blue and black fruits supported by subtle oak and driven by a firm, ferruginous tannin line that carries length and savoury power.
