The Death Card embodies the Alpha Box & Dice signature style of grenache – a new era for the variety in McLaren Vale as a bright, juicy red wine. Traditionally, McLaren Vale grenache was heavy and over-oaked, trying to imitate Shiraz. Alpha Box don’t believe this is the best way to get the most out of grenache – favouring lively acidity, low tannin extraction and drinkability first and foremost. A 'Nouveaux' wine in more ways than one.

NOSE: Red apple skins, red currants, earthy spice and raspberry liquorice.

PALATE: The tannin profile really binds the elements in this wine together: plush fruit, a dynamic acid with a delicate weight.

20% whole bunch fermented as 100% whole bunch. The remainder was fully destemmed. Whole bunch ferment fermented carbonically Destemmed component pumped over once daily Gently pressed to stainless for 8 months. Full and spontaneous MLF. Blended post fermentation.
