Elderslie Nebbiolo 2021
A fragrant wine which aromatically jumps out of the glass. Showing violets and rose petals intertwined with anise and herbal but ripe fruit. Fine fruit is balanced with lovely acidity and plenty of fine tannin making for a stunning expression of the site.
Grape: Nebbiolo
Site: Macclesfield

Picking date: 28/4/2021
At the southern end of the Adelaide Hills on a north west facing slope to take advantage of the last daily rays of sunshine for this late ripening varietal is a special site with multiple Nebbiolo clones planted. The Mudgee clone offers smaller berries and smaller bunches whilst the 230 clone contributes bigger berries and bunches.
In the winery: Hand-picked, hand sorted, destemmed and into 2 large oak fudre (400kg each). The wine went through wild fermentation with occasional gentle hand plunging and remained on skins for three weeks before being gently pressed to a large old French oak barrels where it spent 9 months before being bottled.
