The Seppeltsfield Barossa Shiraz 2023 presents as a medium-depth red with a vibrant crimson rim, immediately expressing classic Barossa character. Aromas of dark plum and black forest cherries are layered with a subtle cocoa powder dusting. Sourced from vineyards on the western ridge of the Barossa, planted on sandy clay loams, the wine reflects ripe fruit purity, spice and mouth-filling structure. Vinified in the historic 1888 Gravity Cellar, the gentle, gravity-fed process delivers refined extraction and balance, complemented by moderate French oak maturation. On the palate, it is medium weight with juicy, lively acidity, crunchy red fruits and ripe plums, supported by fine, mouth-filling tannins. Best enjoyed now with dishes such as a medium-rare charcoal-grilled T-bone and crispy smashed potatoes, it will continue to reward careful cellaring through to 2030.
