The fruit was selected from two vineyard sites, combining the richness and soft tannins of the traditional flood plain with the lifted florals, deep colour and firmer tannins of lighter soils off the flood plain.

Fermented separately in small open-top fermenters with some whole-berry inclusion, the wine was aged for 18 months in three-year-old French oak barriques and bottled without fining or filtration.

Deep purple in colour, it shows enticing aromas of violets, mulberry and spice, with a luxurious palate and fine, seductive tannins. Delicious now, with 6–8 years of cellaring potential.
