Good Catholic Girl 'Hell Bent' Shiraz 2018
This wine takes its name and inspiration from Joan of Arc — a figure truly "hell bent" in her mission. As the Patron Saint of France, Joan played a pivotal role in liberating her country from English rule, paving the way for Charles VII to ascend to the throne. Ultimately captured, she was sold to the English, tried for heresy in a religious court, and burned at the stake in 1431 at the age of 19. Her gravest charge, it was said, was claiming direct inspiration from God rather than the authority of the Church — a crime that sealed her fate, regardless of the outcome.
Joan once declared: “Of the love or hatred God has for England, I know nothing, but I do know that they will be thrown out of France, except those that die there.”
Grown in the famed Armagh region, the Hell Bent Shiraz channels Joan's unrelenting spirit. Bold, driven, and full of character, it embodies her courage and conviction — though thankfully, it’s a wine meant to be savoured, not feared.
