This wine is drawn from five very old bush-vine Grenache vineyards, hand harvested over six pick dates across three weeks to build layered complexity. Four neighbouring Blewitt Springs sites planted between 1930 and 1952 contribute 49% of the blend, with the remainder from the oldest block of the Smart vineyard in Clarendon, planted in 1922. Multiple wild ferments with varying whole-bunch inclusion and skin contact were gently extracted, then matured briefly on fine lees in large old oak and concrete to build texture while preserving freshness and purity.

The wine shows old-vine intensity without weight, offering fragrant cranberry and wild cherry, violets, earth, and garrigue. The palate is pure and composed, with calm depth and concentration, framed by grainy tannins and a bright, natural line of acidity that carries the finish.
