The inaugural vintage of El Desperado in 2011 will always be remembered in Australian wine history as the "vintage from hell," when many vineyards fell victim to an unusually wet summer. For The Pawn, this meant sacrificing the full range of wines that year in order to create something entirely new. Though El Desperado was never planned, its creation proved to be a silver lining—and every sip since has shown just how fortunate that decision was.

Crafted from a blend of grapes grown in Langhorne Creek, this Tempranillo brings together the finest vineyard characteristics to deliver a full-bodied wine that can be enjoyed young or cellared for the medium term.

The nose and palate reveal lifted notes of raspberry, cola, and pomegranate, balanced by bright acidity. Generous layers of earthiness, ripe plum, and blackcurrant flow through to soft, long tannins, making this a wine of depth, vibrancy, and poise.
