The Koerner Watervale Riesling 2023 is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship and terroir-driven winemaking. Sourced from the renowned Gullyview, Parish Vineyards in Watervale, this wine showcases the unique characteristics of three distinct blocks: Grace, Parish, and Gullyview, each contributing its own personality.

The vines, dating back to 1973 for Gullyview and Parish blocks and 1923 for Grace block, are rooted in diverse soils—red clay on limestone for Gullyview and Grace, and red clay on slate and ironstone for Parish. These soil profiles impart depth and complexity to the final blend.

Hand-harvested and sorted on-site in March 2023, the grapes underwent a gentle crush and destemming process, followed by a brief 6-hour maceration on skins in the press. The juice, obtained through minimal press rotations and free run only, was then cold settled for 3 days to remove impurities.

Fermented naturally in steel and ceramic amphorae over 2 months, the wine aged gracefully on fine lees for an additional 6 months in stainless steel. Bottled on December 14, 2023, without fining and with sterile filtration, the Koerner Watervale Riesling 2023 is a pure expression of its origins, offering vibrant acidity, pronounced minerality, and a captivating interplay of citrus, floral, and mineral notes.
