The Balnaves The Blend 2019 is a rich yet beautifully composed Coonawarra red, opening with aromas of blackberry, cassis and cranberry alongside dark plum, liquorice and fragrant spice. Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot bring an attractive floral and aromatic lift, while subtle vanilla, smoky coffee and finely integrated French oak add further complexity.

The palate is medium to full-bodied, with concentrated black fruits wrapped in the soft, rounded texture of Merlot. Dark plum, blackberry and liquorice are complemented by savoury spice and hints of dried herbs, with fine, shapely tannins providing structure and definition.

Generous yet balanced, the wine combines ripe dark fruit with classic Coonawarra freshness and finely judged oak. The finish is long and savoury, with lingering black fruit, spice and finely grained tannins giving it both immediate appeal and the structure to continue developing in bottle.
