Michael Hall

Michael Hall grew up in England with a dad passionate about French wine.  He lived in London in his 20s during the vibrant wine bar scene of the 1980s and, whilst he found work in the jewellery trade, much of his time and wages were spent discovering new wines.

While jewellery was glamourous, this world of privilege wasn’t for him. At 40 years’ old he decided to bring his wine dream to reality. He applied for an Australian student visa and enrolled in Wine Science at Charles Sturt University, which he graduated dux in 2005.

He took advantage of the inverse hemisphere seasons and worked stints in Australia with Cullen, Giaconda, Henschke, Shaw + Smith, Coldstream Hills and Veritas; in France with Domaine Leflaive, Meo-Camuzet, Vieux Telegraphe and Trevallon. He then spent four formative years as winemaker for Barossa contract winemaker, Moppa Vintners.

Now with his name on the label of his own wine, we see Michael crafting elegant and beautiful wines. We are proud to have his wines available here at Regions.

      Grown at Lenswood. A warm winter with low rainfall prompted early budburst. Average temperatures during spring and summer slowed ripening. Hand-picked on the 8th of March, wild yeast fermented in open fermenters, 44% whole bunches. Pressed to barrel and matured for 11 months in French oak (22% new, Francois Frères)....
