Munda

“From a young age I was taught to look after my munda (land) first, then animals and plants, then your family. These are the same values that underpin Munda Wines. We are majority indigenous owned and opening pathways for my people to enter an industry that relies on munda to produce the highly sought after wines Australia is famous for.“

Paul Vandenbergh
Wirangu & Kokatha Country
Director/Co-Founder/Co-Owner

"Munda Wines" embraces the Wirangu and Kokatha word for land, recognizing its significance that predates the French concept of 'terroir' by over 80,000 years. With a profound philosophy rooted in expressing the essence of select Aboriginal countries, Munda Wines seeks to honor the ancestral connection to the land.

As a collective of Aboriginal people, the founders of Munda Wines reject the notion of owning the land, instead viewing munda as a nurturing mother and provider. Their belief is that by caring for munda, the land will reciprocate and care for them. This deep respect for the land has been ingrained in their culture for over 80,000 years, passed down through generations as a fundamental principle.

Munda Wines encapsulates the wisdom and values of their First Nation's People, as they continue to uphold the ancestral practices of respecting and cherishing the land. Through their wines, Munda Wines offers a heartfelt tribute to the munda and the ancient connection it holds, inviting others to appreciate and learn from this profound philosophy that has shaped their identity for millennia.
